These include Ferrari’s own V12 engine, Honda’s inline 4-cylinder engines, and the ubiquitous Mercedes-Benz. Each race has a budget to be adhered to, with this requiring more effort to avoid incurring further costs. The game also offers online multiplayer functionality, allowing players to compete on both temporary and permanent servers. On the competitive side of the game, the game has temporary ranking system where players compete for better positions in different racing leagues all around the world.

IGN reviewer Nick Kolan gave it a score of 9.2/10 and states that ""F1 2013 is everything that you could possibly want from the sport, and then some"" commenting that ""the driving feels great, the physics are believable, and there are plenty of modes to keep you occupied."" GameSpot reviewer Kevin VanOrd gave it an 8/10 stating that ""F1 2013 plays less like a full-fledged racing game than it does a competent driving tool, though its accessible handling makes it easy for even casual fans to drive fast."" "Metro GameCentral"s Phil Iwaniuk commented on how the game was not as fluent as other racing games but felt this added to the challenge. He gave the game 7/10, writing ""There’s no doubt that F1 2013 is not a slickly produced game. The menus are awkward and clunky, the handling is overly forgiving and it looks like an Amiga game. But it’s this very lack of gloss that makes it such a great experience."" "Digital Spy" reviewer Darren Waters gave the game 4/5 stars stating ""F1 2013 lacks some of the finesse of stablemates Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport, but offers fans the most realistic Grand Prix experience yet.
